Yahara CLEAN Final Report, September 9, 2010
A CLEAN Future for the Yahara Lakes: Solutions for Tomorrow, Starting Today

Yahara CLEAN MOU
The Yahara Capital Lakes Environmental Assessment and Needs (CLEAN) Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is an agreement between Dane County, the City of Madison, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, and the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection. These four organizations agreed to undertake six activities to improve water quality in the Yahara Lakes. YLLP works with other agencies to pursue these Yahara CLEAN goals.

Progress Report, 12-23-08
What nutrients and sediments flow into the lakes and where do they come from? How can we decrease this pollution in order to improve water quality? What causes bacterial outbreaks at beaches on our lakes? In February 2008, Dane County, the City of Madison, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, and the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection agreed to look for answers to these questions.

Outcomes from "A Clean Future for the Yahara Lakes: Solutions for Tomorrow, Starting Today"
From the 10/10/2008 Yahara Lakes Conference held at Monona Terrace in Madison, WI. Four concurrent sessions were held at the conference: Community Actions and Partnerships; Green Land, Clean Water: Opportunities in Manure Management; Mud and Crud: Reducing Urban and Rural Sediment and Nutrient Runoff; and Beach CSI: Investigating and Controlling Potential Pollution Sources.

Portion of "Strategic Analysis and Recommendations"
Members of the YLLP Coordinating and Visioning Committee assembled to think through the criteria they might use to evaluate various options for a successor organization.

Results from "Goals, Strategies, Tactics" Workshop
The workshop involved more than 30 people from a wide variety of organizations who met to generate possible answers to 2 questions: "What do you think the Yahara Lakes should look like 30 years from now" and "What should be done to achieve these goals for the Yahara Lakes?"
